1/17/2005 "Lifeblood is the last thing anyone was expecting from the Manics right now. That is, a good album. It certainly confused me." The much-delayed for reasons beyond any human's control 50th issue of Robot Fist updates with a mass of content, including my take on lifeblood. Their retrospective on Kenickie's "At the Club" is missing the point horrifically, however. Kenickie weren't just good-time gals, downing alco-pops and running around and falling over. They were deeply manic-depressive. Standard line I use for Kenickie: Days in Darkened bedrooms, Night in Darkened clubs. And that's why they were important. |
